William D Soper M.D., passed away November 21, 2021 due to complications of ALS. He was born in Plattsburg, Missouri and was lifelong resident of the Northland. Although in later years, he and his wife, Pat, spent much of their time at their home in Florida.
Dr. Soper was graduate of Plattsburg High, Baker University, and the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Medicine. He did his post medical school training at Hennepin County Hospital in Minneapolis. He also held an MBA from Rockhurst University.
A family physician who was a founding member of Liberty Hospital Medical Staff. He served as president of that staff. He was the president of both the Kansas City and Missouri Academies of family physicians. Also the founder of the Liberty clinic. He was Chairman of the Northland CPR project. Which was taken up by Ewing Kauffman and became the MLB CPR project. For several years he was board chairman of TransferMed, an initiative of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
He leaves behind. Sons Gregory, Douglas and wife Margaret, Jonathan and wife Keri; stepchildren Mark Thompson, Bridget Thompson, and Colleen Pelletier. Along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be on Friday Feb 25 at Holy Family Catholic Church,

Visitation from 6-7 PM.
A parish rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will begin at 7 PM
