Marvin E. Bolinger 77 of Plattsburg Missouri died Wednesday October 21, 2026, at his residence. Born on February 15, 1949, in Clarinda Iowa to Paul A. and Erma L. (Wilson) Bolinger. Marvin was a graduate of Plattsburg High School class of 1967. Marvin worked in agriculture for the majority of his career, retiring from Roberts Ag Service in Dearborn Missouri in 2016.
Marvin was a simple man. He enjoyed food that he didn’t have to prepare himself, marbles with Carolyn and Barbara, daily phone calls with his daughter, and of course, the Chiefs. Not only football, but Marvin enjoyed his weekends full of sports entertainment. Whether it was golf, football, NASCAR, or any college game, he would prefer his phone not ring and interrupt the spectating from the comfort of his recliner. If it was Sunday morning, family best not call during the 9 a.m. televised church service, or weekly during the 5:30 p.m. world news. Although he led a quiet life in his later years, Marvin desperately loved his family and looked forward to daily updates about his grand-children. Never was the score of their game or the most recent accomplishment not shared. His children and grand-children were a blessing to him.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Steve and Lyle Bolinger. Survivors include his children Tonya (Richard) Schmidt of Kansas City, Missouri; Clint (Amy) Bolinger of Gladstone Missouri; 3 sisters Carolyn Norton of Plattsburg, Missouri; Barbara Malone of Cameron Missouri and Debbie Robinson of Kansas City Missouri; four grandchildren Bryce, Evan, Cole and Memphis and a host of family and friends.
Marvin chose cremation for his remains and the family is hosting a celebration of life on November 8, 2026 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Community Courtyard in Plattsburg (after the Chiefs game, of course). In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Gathering Place Plattsburg MO in honor of the many meals served to Marvin over the years, and hopefully many more to be served to others.
