Obituary

Leann Kay (Strang) Gump was born April 30, 1965, the daughter of Llewellyn K and Polly Ann (Parks) Strang. She was born in North Kansas City, MO, and lived in Pleasant Valley, MO until moving to Plattsburg, MO with her family at the age of eleven. She remained an enthusiastic resident of Plattsburg from that time until she left this life, at the age of 53, on February 2, 2019.
Leann attended the Plattsburg schools, graduating from Plattsburg High School in 1983. She was a leader in organizing school reunions and valued the life-long friendships that developed from class ties. Those friendships remained a strength and blessing throughout her life. The family wishes to thank those friends particularly who were so supportive and comforting as Leann dealt with illness in these last few months.
On June 30, 1990 Leann married Joe Gump and on November 3, 1995 they were blessed by the birth of their daughter, Jessica Collette. Jessica became and remained the bright star for Leann in this world.
Leann worked for 31 years as an official for Clinton County, and served from 2006 to 2018 as the elected Clinton County Treasurer. She took a great deal of pride in her home town, promoting both Plattsburg and Clinton County through a vast array of community projects.
She was a deeply committed friend to animals, with pets filling her heart and her home. She provided her fur-babies with a quality of life seldom experienced in the animal kingdom. She was also a Kansas City Chiefs enthusiast and a Kansas City Royals fan. She belonged to multiple social groups promoting these interests in the Plattsburg community. She was fiercely loyal as a friend. She loved to laugh. She enjoyed travels with her family. And, she was always, always ready to reach out to others in their time of need with practical help that showed volumes of love. Because that's Leann!
Leann is survived by her daughter, Jessica Collette Gump, her parents Lee and Polly Strang, her brother David Allen Strang, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
As we continue to carry Leann in our hearts, we take comfort in the promise found in Isaiah: "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens; Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing." (Isaiah 40:26) She is of the starry host, not missing from our lives, she has just been called forth by name.
