Kenneth D. Nelson
1926-2018

Kenneth D. Nelson, 91, Plattsburg, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Nick's Healthcare Center, Plattsburg.
He was born in Coin, Iowa, November 6, 1926. He served in U.S. Army in World War II and worked in the Pentagon. Kenneth graduated from Northwest Missouri State University. He taught school for two years, then worked at Whitaker Cable for 42 years.
He married Jean Snuffer November 19, 1954. They were married 63 years, and she survives of the home.
Kenneth was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 359, St. Joseph. Kenneth was a Junior Achievement leader for two years and a Cub Scout leader. He loved bowling and was on a bowling league.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Keith, Wayne, and Lyle Nelson; and infant son, Donald Duane Nelson.
Survivors include his wife; sons, James Nelson (Marcella), Kansas City, Missouri, Larry Nelson (Patricia), Louisburg, Kansas, and Vernon Nelson, Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother, Carroll Nelson (Jake), Westboro, Missouri; and sister, Lois Ann Spangler, Clarinda, Iowa.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
