John R. Burnside 89 of Plattsburg Missouri died Tuesday February 18, 2025, at St Luke's Hospice house in Kansas City Missouri.  Born on October 14, 1935, in Mecca Missouri to Roland and Kathilene (Bell) Burnside.  He attended Washington School in Plattsburg and was a graduate of Bartlett High School in St Joseph Missouri.  John was the owner of Burnside Trucking; he was a member of the ROTC, former Plattsburg city council member and park board.  John was a member of the Masonic Lodge, an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.  John loved to barbecue and hunt and ride horses.  In later years McDonalds and KFC were some of his favorite places to eat.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley A. Burnside; sister Kathryn May; daughter Robin Suzanne Nave; and grandson Darius Burnside.

Survivors include his children Ronald (Debra)  Burnside; Rickey (Diane)  Burnside; Roxanne Burnside; Roddie (Vail) Burnside, all of Plattsburg and Rae Burnside of Kansas City MO., 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday March 2, 2025, at the Plattsburg Community Courtyard from 1:30 to 4:30pm.  Inurnment at a later date in the Mt. Washington Cemetery Plattsburg.
