Jean T. Gassman reunited with her husband and best friend, Frank A. Gassman on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Jean was well known around Plattsburg and the northwest Missouri region. She was active in the St. Ann's Altar Society, Society of Mary, and board member of the Plattsburg Food Pantry. While most of Jean's life was devoted to raising eight children (and being "Grandma Jean" to numerous grand- and great-grandchildren), she worked as a substitute teacher in the Plattsburg schools, and for a number of years operated d'Agee Flowers in Plattsburg. Jean was also known for her engaging and informative presentations to regional service organizations on the "Orphan Train". Jean's mother, Kathryn McCampbell, was a child on the Orphan Train at the turn of the 20th century.
Jean touched many lives in her 94 years. She opened her home with her warm smile and generous spirit to many gatherings for family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Kathryn McCampbell, husband, Frank Gassman, sisters, Mary Campbell and Donna Lee Agee, son- in- law, Ed Bradley and grandchild, Katie Jean Bradley. Survived by daughter, Kathy Jenkins, son, Michael, son, Gregg (Pat), daughter, Peggy Bradley, daughter, Tricia Wolf (Jeff), son, Tim (Parke), son, John (Vicki) and son, Patrick (Cynthia), 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Jean asked that in lieu of flowers, friends donate to St. Jude's Children Hospital or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, March 8th at St. Ann's Church in Plattsburg, MO.
