Elaine I. Mirosh 98 of Manhattan Beach CA., She was born in 1923 in extreme northern Wisconsin. Times were hard especially through the Depression. She used to joke "We had 2 seasons, winter and the 4th of July." When old enough she went to a small teachers' college, got her certificate, and taught in a small one room schoolhouse near where she grew up. When the war began she immediately moved to Southern California to work in the defense factories riveting P-61 (aka the Black Widow) and acquired the nickname "Rosie". When the war ended she was laid off, met and married her husband, proceeded to raise 4 children. When the children were old enough to move out she found herself somewhat idle and couldn't have that. She signed on with Catholic Family Services in LA as a foster parent, caring for babies from birth for anywhere from 2 days to a year. In the next decade she logged in 96 babies. She eventually began regular trips to the Plattsburg area with her husband to be near children and grandchildren spending more time here. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and passed away the morning of June 10, 2022. Survivors include her children John Mirosh of Plattsburg MO, Julia Thomas Lawrence KS, Mary Graham Cameron MO and Patti Garrity of Manhattan Beach CA; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. They will rest together in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. No ceremonies are planned at this time. Arrangements Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service Plattsburg Mo.
