David D. Norton, 79, Plattsburg, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Oakridge Nursing Home.
He was born January 16, 1947, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Rea and Helen (Ditmars) Norton.
He was a graduate of Plattsburg High School in 1965. Earned his agricultural animal husbandry degree from the University of Missouri in 1969.
On June 5, 1970, he married Carolyn Bolinger, and they made their home in Plattsburg. David was involved in Farm Bureau, 4-H, FFA, Extension Council, and Brethren Church Cemetery Committee. He owned North Main trailers for around 10 years. David spent his life as a diversified farmer of hogs, cattle, and crops.
David was a big game hunter who traveled to Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Alaska. He loved to go yearly to South Dakota to hunt pheasants.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Wesley Norton; and a daughter, Shelly Norton.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn; daughter, Jaimee (Jon) Clark of Lathrop, Missouri; son, Eric (Melissa) Norton of Holt, Missouri; two grandchildren, Dylan and Malia Norton of Holt, Missouri; sister, Charnette Norton of Plattsburg; and his beloved dog, Tinker.
Farewell Services 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 6, First Christian Church. Interment Brethren Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
